1970 Plymouth Duster Complete Custom Restoration.
It was an original 318/904 duster. It took a year and a half for this restoration. The body was in pretty good shape other than the quarter panels, rear body panel, trunk extensions which were all replaced. It has solid floor pans and trunk pan that have never been touched. I proceeded to take the car apart in October of 2006. I disassembled the entire car, chemical stripped the entire car, then all the bodywork was done. The bumpers are steel and have been smoothed of bumper bolts and jack slits. The fuel filler neck along with the marker lights have been shaved for a cleaner look. The dash was taken out, smoothed of its original dash pad and speaker that was in the middle of the defrost vents. There are about twenty square holes underneath the dash pad that were welded up to create a smooth, one of a kind look. The front suspension parts have all been sandblasted and painted with basecoat clearcoat including the k-frame.This green color is called snakeskin green pearl (PGS) and it can only be found on 2008-2010 Vipers, the silver (PS2) can be found on most chrysler cars and trucks today. There is a charcoal marbelized stripe with an orange hand painted pinstripe around it breaking the two colors up. The car is laser straight. All the paint products used were PPG. Global basecoats and deltron clearcoats. The entire car has been flat sanded and buffed to a mirror finish! Have about $3000 invested in paint material alone. Every aspect of this car has been addressed and needs absolutely nothing! I have about $34,000 just in receipts and an estimated 2500 hours invested in this beauty. It was completed at the end of July 2008.
The car has been to lots of local shows and have taken many trophies home !
